What will the Cesar Chavez Affordable Housing Project consist of?
The mixed-use affordable housing development will be completed in two (2) phases:
- Phase I would be located at 112-132 South 6th Street and consist of a three (3)-Phase I would be located at 112-132 South 6th Street and consist of a three (3)-and four (4)-story building to include sixty-three (63) affordable residential units and related amenities to be built over one (1) level of subterranean parking; and
- Phase II would be located at 501-525 East Whittier Boulevard and include a mixed-use, four (4)-story building with sixty-nine (69) residential units (both market rateand affordable) and approximately 10,100 square feet of commercial space that isanticipated to include eating establishments and commercial/retail space to be builtover one (1) level of subterranean parking.
The project area consists of approximately 1.56 acres in size and is located along the southern portion of Whittier Boulevard between 5th and 6th Streets and along half of the eastern side of 6th Street between Whittier Boulevard and Los Angeles Avenue. The proposed buildings will be situated to face Whittier Boulevard and 6th Street. One level of subterranean parking will be provided within each building and additional parking will be provided at the ground levels of the buildings.
